Sahil Lavingia
Sahil Lavingia is the founder and CEO of Gumroad. This San Francisco-based financial technology company helps creators and independent business owners sell digital products and services directly to their customers. He is also an early-stage venture capitalist, providing capital and guidance to startups in a wide range of industries.
Prior to founding Gumroad, Lavingia worked as a designer and engineer at the virtual DJ website Turntable.fm, and was an early employee at the personal curation site Pinterest. He attended the University of Southern California’s Viterbi School of Engineering.
Lavingia is an advocate for companies and entrepreneurs to be able to take control of their finances without relying on traditional banking institutions. In addition to providing access to digital products and services, Gumroad also provides financial tools to enable users to track their sales, manage their taxes, and set up payment systems.
Lavingia has been featured in numerous publications, including Forbes, TechCrunch, and The Wall Street Journal. He’s been recognized as a top entrepreneur under 30 and was named one of the Most Innovative People in Business by Fast Company.
In addition to his work with Gumroad, Lavingia is an active angel investor and advisor, investing in and advising startups in the US and abroad. He is also a board member at the Los Angeles-based venture capital firm Upfront Ventures.
