Philip Zaleski is the author of The Recollected Heart, Gifts of the Spirit, and The Benedictines of Petersham, and co-author, with Carol Zaleski, of The Fellowship: The Literary Lives of the Inklings - J.R.R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, Owen Barfield, Charles Williams; Prayer: A History; and The Book of Heaven: An Anthology of Writings from Ancient to Modern Times. He is also the editor of the Best Spiritual Writing and Best American Spiritual Writing series. He lives with his family in Western Massachusetts.

Zaleski’s essays and book reviews have appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, First Things, Christian Century, and Parabola. From 1995 to 2002, he edited the HarperSanFrancisco series The Best Spiritual Writing and soon thereafter became editor of the Houghton Mifflin series The Best American Spiritual Writing.
