Kevin Simler is a writer and software engineer currently living in Brooklyn, NY. He's worked for ten years as a programmer, product designer, and engineering director and continues to advise startups about technology, leadership, and recruiting. 

Kevin Simler graduated from Berkeley in 2004 with degrees in Philosophy and Computer Science. He started a Ph.D. in Computational Linguistics at MIT but left in 2006 to join Palantir Technologies, working there for 7 years as an engineer, engineering manager, and product designer. He has since published a book on social psychology, The Elephant in the Brain: Hidden Motives in Everyday Life (coauthored with Robin Hanson), and joined a very promising biotech startup.
