Dr. Effy Oz was a renowned Management Information Systems (MIS) scholar and professor whose academic career spanned more than 20 years. Effy taught at Penn State University, Wayne State University, Boston College, and Boston University.

Effy was a veteran of the Israel Defense Forces. He earned a BA and MBA from Hebrew University of Jerusalem and left a decade of corporate senior management at Israel Aircraft Industries to pursue his doctorate at Boston University. Effy won numerous awards for innovative teaching and distinguished research. He was a journal reviewer, member of many editorial and conference boards, and frequently published researcher. Effy wrote 10 books, including all six editions of Management Information Systems, one of the most widely used MIS textbooks in the world.

Effy was a voracious reader, with many interests and an affinity for history, languages, politics, religion, and economics. He was an expressive, attentive, and sensitive man with a sharp sense of humor. Everyone who knew Effy sensed almost immediately that he was a passionate family man. Effy proposed to Narda one week after their first date, and they were married seven weeks later, in December 1974. Effy always referred to Narda as "my beloved."

Effy loved to travel with his family. He enjoyed dining and hiking with his wife, playing racquetball with his sons, working out with his daughter, rollerblading, kayaking, and canoeing. He was a fierce competitor and always a gentleman who derived the greatest pleasure from time spent with family. Effy's youngest love was his granddaughter, Lily. Effy is missed beyond description by Narda; daughter Adi; sons Sahar, Noam, and Ron; daughter-in-law Jessica; and Lily. The Dr. Effy Oz Memorial Fund has been established in Effy's memory to support students from elementary to graduate school.
