Description

In the distant future, a giant silo―a community of people living in a kind of underground bunker―has survived a cataclysmic disaster. The silo’s few hundred inhabitants abide by strict rules and think they are safe from whatever lies outside the massive concrete walls.

To an extent, they’re right: Few people want to risk going through the rigorous process necessary to leave the silo and brave whatever dangers might exist aboveground. But Sheriff Holston decides to do just that after he finds out something startlingly dangerous has happened within the silo itself: A young woman has been murdered by one of his deputies.

He asks Holston if he can go up to investigate what happened, but the sheriff denies him access. So Holston breaks one of the biggest rules in place and goes outside―without permission.

Once there, he discovers that things are much worse than anyone suspects belowground. Everyone must now face truths about their society―and themselves ―that cannot be ignored any longer.
