Dr. Stephan Guyenet is an expert on the neuroscience of eating behavior and body fat regulation. He regularly appears in the public arena as a science communicator, with his 2017 book The Hungry Brain having a major impact on the discourse around nutrition and obesity. The Hungry Brain was named one of the best books of the year by Publishers Weekly and called “essential” by the New York Times Book Review.

Dr. Guyenet is also the founder and director of Red Pen Reviews, which publishes the most informative, consistent, and unbiased reviews of health and nutrition books available. Dr. Guyenet is the primary designer of the innovative bodyweight management program, The Ideal Weight Program. His publications in scientific journals have been cited more than 2,800 times by his peers.

Always keen to engage with the public on health issues, Dr. Guyenet appeared on comedian Joe Rogan’s podcast in March 2019 to debate journalist Gary Taubes on the causes of obesity. This debate sent ripples throughout the diet/health community and was one of the most impactful public discussions of diet and nutrition in recent times.
