Joachim Wieder ( March 13 , 1912 – October 12, 1992 ) was a German librarian. Joachim Wieder studied at the universities of Munich, Breslau, Paris and Pisa. In 1943 he took part in the Battle of Stalingrad as an orderly officer and was then a Russian prisoner of war for ten years.

Afterwards, Wieder was initially a member of the library council at the Bavarian State Library and then became director of the library at the Technical University of Munich . Again, he was particularly interested in medieval book art.

From 1957 to 1963 he was Secretary of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), after which he was Vice President of the Executive Board of IFLA until 1969. Again, he was involved in the International Association of Scientific and Technological University Libraries (IATUL), the international association of technical university libraries. He was also President of the International Library Office for twelve years.
