Ina Yalof, a sociologist by degree, has written magazine and newspaper articles and books on a wide range of cultural themes for more than thirty years. In addition, while living in Vermont, she taught writing at Dartmouth College’s ILEAD adult extension program. Her 14 published books include the widely acclaimed oral history Life and Death: The Story of a Hospital, and How I Write (coauthored with Janet Evanovich – New York Times best-selling author.) 

Her most recent book, Food and the City: New York’s Professional Chefs, Restaurateurs, Line Cooks, Street Vendors, and Purveyors Talk About What They Do and Why They Do It, was published by Putnam in 2016. Ina Yalof lives in New York City.
