Neil Richard Gaiman was born on November 10, 1960, in Portchester, England. He originated from a family of Eastern European Jewish descent. His father, David Bernard Gaiman, worked at their family chain of stores, while his mother, Sheila Gaiman, was a pharmacist. In 1965 the family moved to East Grinstead, West Sussex, where Neil grew up with a profound love for reading, beginning as early as age 4.&nbsp;
Some of his favorite childhood books include J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, C. S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia, Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Batman, and other comics. Gaiman received early education at various church schools, including Fonthill School in East Grinstead, Ardingly College, and Whitgift School in Croydon.
When Gaiman began to outgrow comic books in his teenage years, he realized the lack of comic books for an older mature audience. He, therefore, decided to fill the gap himself. Although he wanted to write comic books, Gaiman had little idea how to go about it. Following his graduation from high school in 1977, Gaiman became a journalist writing articles for a number of renowned publications such as the Sunday Times, the Observer, Knave, and Time Out.&nbsp;
In March 1985, Gaiman married McGrath after the birth of their son Michael in 1983. The couple had two more children, Holly and Madeleine. In 1984, Gaiman wrote his first book, a biography of the band Duran Duran. He continued writing articles and interviews in magazines under pseudonyms. David Lifton was born in New York on 20th September 1939. A graduate of the Cornell University School of Engineering Physics he worked as a computer engineer for North American Aviation in Los Angeles. Lifton worked on the Apollo space program but left the company in 1966.
Lifton now concentrated on his research into the assassination of John F. Kennedy and particularly the life of Lee Harvey Oswald. He has read all the material published by the Warren Commission. He also spent several months at the National Archives in Washington and interviewed many of the important witnesses in the case.
Lifton published an important article on the assassination in Ramparts. He also served as consultant on the Hollywood movies, Executive Action and Oliver Stone's JFK. Lifton ppeared before the House Select Committee on Assassinations and as an expert witness before the Assassination Records Review Board.
In 1980 Lifton published Best Evidence: Disguise and Deception in the Assassination of John F. Kennedy. Lifton claims that members of the Secret Service agents were involved in the killing of Kennedy. Their involvement was the key to the secret alteration of the President's wounds.
In the book Lifton argued that the wounds contained in the body of John F. Kennedy were altered somewhere between Parkland Hospital and Bethesda Hospital. Lifton believes that the wounds were altered in order to hide the fact that he had been shot from the front, e.g. the Grassy Knoll. The book was a bestseller and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in history.

David Henry Fromkin was an American historian best known for his interpretive account of the Middle East, A Peace to End All Peace (1989), in which he recounts European powers' role between 1914 and 1922 in creating the modern Middle East. The book was a finalist for both the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction. Fromkin wrote seven books, ending in 2007 with The King and the Cowboy: Theodore Roosevelt and Edward the Seventh, Secret Partners.
Fromkin was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on August 27, 1932. He died on June 11, 2017, in New York City due to heart failure; he was 84. A graduate of the University of Chicago and the University of Chicago Law School, he was Professor Emeritus of History and International Relations and Law at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, where he was also the Director of The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Long-Range Future.
Before his career as a historian, Fromkin was an attorney and political adviser. In the 1972 Democratic primary campaign, he served as a foreign-policy adviser to candidate Hubert Humphrey. As an attorney, he served as both prosecutor and defense counsel in the Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. He retired as professor emeritus in 2013.
Discussing Fromkin's book Kosovo Crossing: The Reality of American Intervention in the Balkans, Noam Chomsky stated that Fromkin "asserts without argument that the U.S. and its allies acted out of 'altruism' and 'moral fervor' alone" in bombing Yugoslavia during the Kosovo war. Fischer grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. He received an A.B. from Princeton University in 1958 and a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1962. Fischer has been on the faculty of Brandeis University for 50 years, where he is known for being interested in his students and history.
He is best known for two major works: Albion's Seed (1989) and Washington's Crossing (Pivotal Moments in American History) (2004). In Albion's Seed, he argues that core aspects of American culture stem from four British folkways and regional cultures and that their interaction and conflict have been decisive factors in U.S. political and historical development. In Washington's Crossing, Fischer provides a narrative of George Washington's leadership of the Continental Army during the winter of 1776–1777 during the American Revolutionary War.
He was admitted as an honorary member of The Society of the Cincinnati in 2006. He is a member of the board of the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. Howard Zinn (1922-2010) was a historian, playwright, and activist. He wrote the classic A People's History of the United States, "a brilliant and moving history of the American people from the point of view of those ... whose plight has been largely omitted from most histories" (Library Journal). The book, which has sold more than two million copies, has been featured on The Sopranos and Simpsons and in the film Good Will Hunting.&nbsp;
In 2009, History aired The People Speak, an acclaimed documentary co-directed by Zinn, based on A People's History and a companion volume, Voices of a People's History of the United States. Zinn grew up in Brooklyn in a working-class, immigrant household. At 18, he became a shipyard worker and then flew bomber missions during World War II.&nbsp;
These experiences helped shape his opposition to war and passion for history. After attending college under the GI Bill and earning a Ph.D. in history from Columbia, he taught at Spelman, where he became active in the civil rights movement. After being fired by Spelman for his support for student protesters, Zinn became a professor of Political Science at Boston University, where he taught until his retirement in 1988.
Zinn was the author of many books, including an autobiography, You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train, the play Marx in Soho, and Passionate Declarations. He received the Lannan Foundation Literary Award for Nonfiction and the Eugene V. Debs award for his writing and political activism.

Edgar Snow, a prominent journalist and the first Westerner to meet Mao Tse-tung and Chinese Communist leaders in 1936, was given exclusive access to these men for the purposes of writing a book about the origins of the Chinese revolution. Nelson Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was born in 1918 in the village of Mvezo in Umtata, then a part of South Africa's Cape Province. Mandela became involved in anti-colonial politics, joining the African National Congress (ANC) in 1943 and co-founding its Youth League in 1944. He was arrested in 1962, convicted of sabotage and other charges, and sentenced to life in prison. Mandela served 27 years in prison, spending many of these years on Robben Island.
Following his release in 1990, Mandela led the ANC in negotiations with the ruling National Party to end apartheid and establish multi-racial elections in 1994, in which he was elected President. Nelson Mandela was the President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the first black President of South Africa and the first to be elected in a fully representative democratic election.
As President, Mandela worked to combat poverty and inequality and promote reconciliation between South Africa's racial groups. He also sought to improve the lives of the country's black majority by implementing policies such as affirmative action and land reform.
During his Presidency, Mandela also sought to improve South Africa's international relations and played a crucial role in promoting peace and stability on the African continent. He also worked to secure a peaceful transition in neighboring Namibia and helped to broker a power-sharing agreement in Burundi. After one term, he stepped down from Presidency.
Nelson Mandela retired from politics in 1999. He had previously announced his intention to retire before the end of his term, stating that he wanted to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition of power.
After his retirement, Mandela continued to advocate for social causes, particularly those related to children, education, and the fight against HIV/AIDS. He also remained a respected figure in South Africa and internationally and continued to be involved in various initiatives to promote peace and reconciliation.
Mandela also established the Nelson Mandela Foundation, a non-profit organization focusing on issues such as poverty, HIV/AIDS, and education. He also continued to advocate for reconciliation and peace and played a role in various peace initiatives throughout Africa and the world. Unfortunately, Mandela passed away on December 5, 2013, at 95, but his legacy continues to be celebrated and honored worldwide.

Edgar Parks Snow (19 July 1905 – 15 February 1972) was an American journalist known for his books and articles on Communism in China and the Chinese Communist revolution. He was the first Western journalist to give an account of the history of the Chinese Communist Party following the Long March. He was also the first Western journalist to interview many of its leaders, including Mao Zedong.&nbsp;
He is best known for his book Red Star Over China (1937), an account of the Chinese Communist movement from its foundation until the late 1930s. Edgar Parks Snow was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 19, 1905. Before settling in Missouri, his ancestors had moved to the state from North Carolina, Kentucky, and Kansas. He briefly studied journalism at the University of Missouri and joined the Zeta Phi chapter of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.
Snow moved to New York City to pursue a career in advertising before graduating. He made a little money in the stock market shortly before the Wall Street Crash of 1929. In 1928 he used the money to travel around the world, intending to write about his travels.
