Dr. Spitz has been practicing urology for over 21 years. He has specialized expertise in male reproductive medicine and male sexual health. Dr. Spitz performs a comprehensive evaluation and offers the full spectrum of surgical and nonsurgical treatments for male infertility. He performs microsurgical varicocele surgery and sperm retrieval surgery for in vitro fertility. He offers testis microdissection to treat the most severe cases where no sperm is present in the semen, such as Klinefelter syndrome.

He is highly skilled at microsurgical vasectomy reversal. He performs both vasovasostomy and vasoepididymostomy, and he has extensive experience salvaging previously failed vasectomy reversal. A nationally recognized expert, Dr. Spitz performs no-needle, no-scalpel vasectomy, employing the most advanced minimally invasive techniques for male birth control. He is also a recognized expert on male hormone replacement and sexual dysfunction. And he provides expert treatment for men suffering from low testosterone and erectile dysfunction.

Dr. Spitz is a leader in the nonsurgical treatment of Peyronie’s disease (curved penis), having participated in the international clinical trial for the approval of Xiaflex® and recently serving as the national spokesperson for the “Ask About the Curve” campaign. Dr. Spitz is the author of The Penis Book: A Doctor’s Complete Guide to the Penis – From Size to Function and Everything in Between. The book, published by Rodale Press, achieved the top rank on Amazon in Male Impotence.

Dr. Spitz has also authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and chapters regarding treatment for male fertility. He is a frequent media spokesperson on male health issues. In 2018, Dr. Spitz was featured in the acclaimed documentary The Game Changers, which premiered in more than 1,000 theaters worldwide. The film – produced by legends such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, director James Cameron (Terminator, Titanic, Avatar), and Jackie Chan – sheds light on the game-changing effects of a plant-based diet in elite sports. To help dispel the myth that the consumption of animal products is key for athletic performance, the film follows elite athletes that have thrived on a plant-based diet. Dr. Spitz explores the link between a plant-based diet and improved sexual performance.

Dr. Spitz has been very involved in medical politics at both state and national levels, frequently advocating on behalf of urologists and their patients. He has testified before the California Assembly and regularly goes to Washington to meet with Senators and members of Congress. In 2020, the American Urological Association (AUA), the premier professional urology association with more than 23,000 members worldwide, presented Dr. Spitz with The Distinguished Service Award for more than 12 years of outstanding service to the American Medical Association (AMA) setting urological clinical policies.

Dr. Spitz is Chairman of the American Urological Association’s Telehealth Task Force. Dr. Spitz is leading urology’s nationwide push to use telemedicine for online patient visits, which has been truly beneficial for patients and physicians during this Covid-19 era.
