Timothy Harper, whose 12 books include License to Steal and Moscow Madness, is an award-winning journalist and author who writes books and articles on many topics. His latest book is The U.S. Constitution, in the Idiot’s Guide series. He is also an editorial and publishing consultant who helps individuals and institutions write and publish books of their own, often as a ghostwriter or book doctor, sometimes for major publishing houses such as Random House or Oxford University Press.

Tim has taught journalism reporting and law at major universities, including in 2007 at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York, where he is a visiting professor and writing coach. He has also taught at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and NYU’s Carter Institute for Journalism and has spoken and led sessions at many professional events for journalists.

He has served as an editorial consultant and writing coach for individual authors and for corporate clients such as Intel, Alcoa, Time Inc., Newsweek, Pfizer, Reuters, British Telecom, Brooklyn Brewery, Brown Publishing, Robert Marston Associates, the Steamboat Foundation and a number of Wall Street institutions.

Tim has helped hundreds of first-time authors get their books in print: biography, autobiography, corporate history, tribute books, novels, and more. He can serve as a book coach to help you write and publish your novel or your personal, family, or business history. If you need a writer or ghostwriter, or book doctor, if you need a collaborator for a “with” or “as told to” book, if you have a story to tell, or if you’re looking for a speaker, please get in touch.

Projects for clients include books about an early opioid whistleblower, a park ranger’s clash with an NFL owner who leveled a stand of trees for a better mansion view, pioneers building the Jewish state in the early days of Israel, an Indian family immigration/assimilation story, a Holocaust memoir, basic investing for military personnel, the economics of international human rights, the history of the Indus River Valley, a harrowing cross-country trip flying an antique biplane, linebacker leadership from a former Notre Dame player who went on to a marvelous business career, and the biography of a health-care tycoon who became one of America’s leading philanthropists and art patrons. And many more.
