Jeremy Narby (born in 1959 in Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian anthropologist and author. In his books, Narby examines shamanism, molecular biology, and shamans' knowledge of Botanics and biology through the use of entheogens across many cultures. Narby was born in 1959 and grew up in Montreal, Quebec, and Switzerland. He studied history at the University of Kent at Canterbury.

One of his favorite items is a table on which Otis Redding is said to have written "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay." (Brand acquired it from an antique dealer in Sausalito.)

Thomas M. Cover was an information theorist and professor jointly in the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Statistics at Stanford University. He devoted almost his entire career to developing the relationship between information theory and statistics. Cover was past President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Information Theory Society and was a Fellow of the Institute for Mathematical Statistics and of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.&nbsp;
During his 48-year career as a professor of Electrical Engineering and Statistics at Stanford University, he graduated 64 Doctor of Philosophy students, authored over 120 journal papers in learning, information theory, statistical complexity, and portfolio theory. And he coauthored the book Elements of Information Theory, which has become the most widely used textbook as an introduction to the topic since the publication of its first edition in 1991. He was also coeditor of the book Open Problems in Communication and Computation.

Through this, Adam met the good people at triple j and, within a couple of years, was hosting their breakfast radio show with his good friend Wil Anderson. After 6 years, Adam and Wil called it a day. But a year later, Adam was back on the grown-up ABC Sydney radio station 702, where for 8 years, he set rating records and maintained second place in Australia's largest and most competitive market.
In December 2013, he called an end to 8 years of news, traffic, weather, and chess results on what was, without doubt, the geekiest radio show Sydney had seen in a very long time, if ever.
Adam has complemented his radio career with numerous television roles hosting everything from the national science show Quantum to poker championships to appearing on the weekly sports review The Back Page, ABC news, and current affairs wrap The Drum. His Sleek Geeks science comedy show with Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki was a particular favorite of the public. Most recently, he co-hosted The Sunday Project interviewing guests Julia Gillard and Illy.
A passionate sports lover, Adam is an ambassador for the Sydney Swans and, in 2016, had the honor of being their Number 1 ticket holder. Listeners to his radio shows know well that he coached a women's soccer team at the University of Sydney for over a decade.&nbsp;
He is the University's first-ever ambassador for mathematics and science and is aligned with numerous charitable causes. The first Shelter Island Conference, organized in 1947 by Robert Oppenheimer to consolidate the advances in theoretical physics made during World War II and chart a course for the development of a pure physics far removed from defense applications, was followed by a second conference nearly four decades later.  The second Shelter Island Conference (SIC II) on Quantum Field Theory and Fundamental Problems of Physics, held in 1983 and documented in this volume, called for new consolidation and consensus on the directions of future research.  It brought together an international constellation of leading theoreticians, including some of the most intellectually vigorous young physicists of their time and almost all the living participants in the first conference, several now Nobel laureates.  SIC II provided a historical overview and recollections of the first conference, whose proceedings were never published. 

Eric Weinstein is an American mathematician and economist and the managing director of Thiel Capital, a venture capital firm founded by Peter Thiel. He holds a Ph.D. in mathematical physics from Harvard University and is a visiting professor at the California Institute of Technology. Professor Roman Jackiw is a theoretical physicist renowned for his many fundamental contributions and discoveries in quantum and classical field theories, ranging from high energy physics and gravitation to condensed matter and the physics of fluids.&nbsp;
Among his major achievements is the establishment of the presence of the famous Adler–Bell–Jackiw anomalies in quantum field theory, a discovery with far-reaching implications for the structure of the Standard Model of particle physics and all attempts to go beyond it.&nbsp;
Other important contributions, among many, that one may mention here are the topological mass term in gravity and gauge theories and the fractionalization of fermion number and charge in the presence of topological objects.
