Lynn is the author of 18 books on parenting and therapy including 4 books in the Positive Discipline series. Her books and training programs are used throughout the world. She grew up in the midwest but by age 30 was ready to find a new place to live. She and her husband, two pre-school age children and dog Thumper took off in a van to explore the U.S. and find a new place to live.

They traveled for 7 months, relocating to northern California, discovering that there was more to California than earthquakes and freeway parking lots. There Lynn founded the Family Education Center and taught parenting and college courses and trained parent educators for 13 years. Enough people twisted her arm until she started a private therapy practice which is still her "day job."

Most of Lynn's books came about because someone bugged her till she wrote down what she was teaching and using in her private practice. The biggest influence in Lynn's writing career came when author Jane Nelsen insisted they write a book together about parenting teens. Lynn resisted until Jane and Lynn's husband Hal plotted together to change her mind. Lynn thought Jane knew what she was doing and Jane thought Lynn knew what she was doing.

Together, they realized neither person had a clue how to organize the material. They were new to computers and didn't really understand cutting and pasting, so they printed out every word they'd written and spread all the pages out on Jane's living room floor. Lynn crawled around with scissors and tape, cutting segments and putting together topics until an outline emerged. Despite the difficult start, Positive Discipline for Teenagers has helped thousands.

Lynn's message is about encouragement and respect and positive relationships. She's known for her non-drug therapy and has helped thousands improve their relationships with themselves, their spouses, their children, their friends, their workplace colleagues, and their relatives. She's an empiricle researcher and adventurer who has motivated many to break through barriers and have faith in their ability to grow and change.
