Julia Busuttil Nishimura is a Melbourne-based cook and author. Her work celebrates simple ingredients, seasonal produce, and the joys of coming together at the table. Julia's cooking is influenced by her Maltese heritage and Japanese family, the distinctive ebb and flow of Melbourne's seasons, and by her time spent living in Tuscany, where she learned the joys of the Italian kitchen.

Julia is the author of two best-selling cookbooks. Her first cookbook Ostro was released in 2017 and was recently re-released in 2021. It was shortlisted for the 2018 ABIA ‘Illustrated Book of the Year’ and named in Gourmet Traveller’s ‘Best Food Books for 2017’. It has been named ‘A modern Australian classic’ by Booktopia books.

Julia’s second cookbook, A Year of Simple Family Food, was released in August 2020 and went into reprint before its release date. Julia’s third book, Around the Table, Delicious food for every day, is now available for pre-order and will be realized on July 26. She is a regular contributor to ABC, Good Food, Good Weekend Magazine, and The Design Files.
