Woody Harrelson is an American actor, comedian, producer, and activist. Born on July 23, 1961, in Midland, Texas, Harrelson has been in the public eye since the mid-1980s, having starred in comedies, dramas, and a variety of other projects.

Harrelson’s career began on television, playing the dim-witted bartender Woody Boyd on the hit NBC series Cheers. His performance earned him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 1989. He went on to appear in several films, including White Men Can’t Jump (1992), Indecent Proposal (1993), Natural Born Killers (1994), The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996), No Country for Old Men (2007), and The Hunger Games series (2012-2015).

In addition to his acting career, Harrelson is an outspoken advocate for a variety of causes, ranging from environmentalism to animal rights. He is a longtime vegan and a vocal opponent of factory farming.
