Robert Rodriguez began his career in the early 1990s with the release of his debut feature film, "El Mariachi." Made on a shoestring budget of $7,000, the film was a hit at the Sundance Film Festival and led to a distribution deal with Columbia Pictures.

Following the success of "El Mariachi," Rodriguez directed and wrote several more films, including "Desperado," "From Dusk till Dawn," "The Faculty," "Spy Kids," "Sin City," and "Machete." He also directed several sequels to his earlier films, including "Desperado," "Spy Kids," and "Sin City."

Throughout his career, Rodriguez has been known for using digital filmmaking technology and his "DIY" approach to filmmaking. He often writes, directs, edits, and scores his films and has also worked as a producer and cinematographer on many of his projects.
