Mark Hart

Mark Hart is an accomplished entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist. He is the founder, CEO, and Chief Investment Officer of Corriente Advisors and is widely known for his successful large short positions against the US subprime mortgage market, European sovereign debt, Chinese yuan, and his long conviction in Bitcoin. 

Prior to founding Corriente in 2001, Mr. Hart was a founder and principal of Tarpon Advisors, Inc. (a Dallas-based long/short equity hedge fund), a managing director at the Culmen Group (an Australian family office based in Fort Worth, where he was involved in taking MGM Studios public), and an analyst and associate in the New York and Los Angeles offices of Bannon & Co (a boutique investment bank specializing in media and entertainment, where he was involved in the purchase and sale of movie studios, film library valuations, theme park development and financing, and an earth system science research facility intended to pave the way for future space colonies). 

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Hart is also an active contributor to Camelot’s publications and private podcasts. He earned a B.A. in the Plan II Honors Program from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994 and is a 1st-degree Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu under Rigan Machado and Marcos Santos. 

Mr. Hart's commitment to giving back to the community extends to his service on the Boards of Directors of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Pyroclastic Records (a non-profit, artist-run jazz record label), and Assure Disability (a legal services software company). He is an exemplary figure of success, determination, and generosity.
