Marissa Mayer is a technology executive and entrepreneur. She is best known for her tenure as the CEO of Yahoo, a position she held from 2012 to 2017. She began her career at Google in 1999 as the company's first female engineer and the 20th employee. She quickly rose through the ranks and became one of the company's most high-profile executives, overseeing many of the company's essential products such as Google Search, Images, Maps, and Gmail.

In 2012, Mayer was appointed CEO of Yahoo, tasked with turning around the struggling internet company. During her tenure, she made a number of strategic acquisitions and investments, including purchasing the blogging platform Tumblr and acquiring mobile-advertising companies Flurry and BrightRoll. She also oversaw the launch of several new products, such as Yahoo News Digest and Yahoo Livetext.

Mayer could not revive Yahoo's fortunes despite her efforts, and the company's stock price remained stagnant throughout her tenure. Finally, in 2017, Yahoo was acquired by Verizon Communications, and Mayer stepped down as CEO. After that, Mayer took a role on the board of directors of several companies, such as Walmart and the New York Times Company.

Marissa Mayer has been involved in several philanthropic efforts throughout her career. She has served on the board of directors of several nonprofit organizations, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the New York City Ballet.

In addition to her board positions, Mayer has also made significant charitable donations. In 2013, she and her husband, Zachary Bogue, donated $25 million to Stanford University to support the construction of a new building for the university's graduate business school. In 2014, Mayer also donated $3 million to a scholarship program for low-income students in the Bay Area.

Mayer has also been a vocal advocate for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education and has supported initiatives encouraging girls and underrepresented minorities to pursue careers in these fields.

Mayer is also known for her commitment to gender equality and has been vocal about the importance of diversity and inclusion in the technology industry. In 2017, she and her husband donated $15 million to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to support a new initiative to increase the representation of women and underrepresented minorities in the museum's collection. Mayer has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to philanthropy, education, gender equality, and diversity.
