Katie Couric is an American journalist and television personality. She is best known for her work as the anchor of the CBS Evening News and as a correspondent for the Today Show, and as a host of her talk show, "Katie."

Couric began her career as a reporter and anchor at local television stations before joining NBC's Today Show in 1989. She quickly rose through the ranks at NBC, and in 1991, she became the show's first female co-anchor. During her 15-year tenure on the Today Show, Couric became one of the country's most recognized and respected journalists.

In 2006, Couric made history by becoming the first solo female anchor of a major network evening news program when she took over as the anchor of the CBS Evening News. She held this position for five years before leaving to launch her daytime talk show, "Katie."

In recent years, Couric has focused on her role as an executive producer and host of the National Geographic series "America Inside Out with Katie Couric" and her podcast "Katie Couric Media."

Throughout her career, Couric has been recognized for her journalistic achievements and has received numerous awards, including multiple Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, and a Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism.

Couric is also an author of two books and an active philanthropist; she's served on the boards of several organizations that support cancer research and education, including the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance, which she co-founded, and Stand Up To Cancer, which she co-created.
