George Raveling

George Raveling is a former American college basketball coach and a current Nike executive. He was the head coach at Washington State University and the University of Iowa and an assistant coach at the University of Maryland and Louisville. He is also known for being the first African American head coach at a Division I school in the Pacific-8 Conference (now the Pac-12).

He is currently the Director of International Basketball for NIKE. He is also a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the International Basketball Hall of Fame, and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. He was the first African American head basketball coach at a major university in the United States when he took the head coaching job at Washington State University in 1972.
