Elizabeth Warren is an American politician and former law professor who currently serves as the senior United States Senator from Massachusetts. She is a member of the Democratic Party and was the Democratic nominee for President of the United States in the 2020 election.

Warren was born and raised in Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Houston and Rutgers Law School. She first practiced law in Massachusetts before teaching law at the University of Texas, the University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard Law School. She became a prominent consumer protection advocate and was the architect and leading proponent of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, established during the Obama administration.

Warren was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2012 and has become a leading progressive and populist voice in Congress. She is a vocal supporter of Social Security and Medicare. She has championed a number of laws to protect consumers and the middle class, including the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. Warren has also been an outspoken critic of Wall Street, the pharmaceutical industry, and big tech companies, calling for increased oversight and regulation.

In 2018, Warren released the results of a DNA test that showed evidence of Native American ancestry, which was met with criticism from some Native American leaders. Warren has since apologized for taking the test and for any harm it may have caused.

Warren has proposed a number of progressive policy proposals, including the cancellation of student loan debt and a "Green New Deal" to combat climate change. She has also proposed several reforms to the American healthcare system, including expanding Medicare and Medicaid and creating a public option.
