Andrew Garfield is a British-American actor. He was born in Los Angeles, California, on August 20, 1983, but was raised in Epsom, Surrey, England. Garfield began his acting career in theater, performing in various productions in London's West End before transitioning to film and television.

In 2007, Garfield made his feature film debut in the British drama "Lions for Lambs," starring opposite Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep. The following year, he landed the lead role in the critically acclaimed film "Boy A," for which he won the BAFTA Television Award for Best Actor.

Garfield's breakthrough role came in 2010 when he was cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the rebooted "Spider-Man" franchise, directed by Marc Webb.
