He climbed the granite wall without the use of any safety equipment, an achievement that is considered one of the most significant climbing feats in history.

Honnold has been featured in several documentaries, including the 2018 Academy Award-winning film "Free Solo," which followed his preparation and ascent of El Capitan. He's also been featured in several articles and interviews, and has written a book about his life and experiences as a climber, called "Alone on the Wall." He is also known for his philanthropic work, and founded the Honnold Foundation which aims to promote sustainable energy solutions in underprivileged communities.
