Alex Blumberg is a career journalist and radio producer. He began his career at National Public Radio (NPR), where he worked for the shows "All Things Considered," "Day to Day," and "Weekend Edition." He then joined the staff of "This American Life," where he worked for several years as a producer. He also created the "Planet Money" podcast and podcast team, which covered the global economy and business.

In 2014, Alex Blumberg co-founded Gimlet Media, a podcast production company, where he served as CEO. Gimlet Media produces a variety of popular podcasts, including "Reply All," "Homecoming," "The Pitch," "Crimetown," and "StartUp," which documents the creation of Gimlet Media.

In addition to producing its content, Gimlet Media also provides podcast production and consulting services to other companies and organizations. The company has become one of the most successful and well-known independent podcast production companies in the industry, and in 2019 was acquired by Spotify for $230M.

Blumberg served as CEO of Gimlet Media until 2019. He remained an executive producer with the company and continued to host and produce the podcast "Without Fail." He also remained on the Board of Directors until 2020.
