Sheryl Sculley retired as city manager of the City of San Antonio in April of 2019 after 14 years as that city’s CEO and a total of 45 years in public service in local government management in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Phoenix, and San Antonio. Currently, she is a consultant with Strategic Partnerships, Inc. and a corporate board member at MGIC.  

Sculley presently serves on the San Antonio Early Matters Task Force, the United Way Campaign Cabinet, and the host committee for The Gurwitz International Piano Competition. Sculley is a life member of the International City Management Association, a fellow in the National Academy of Public Administration, and has taught graduate courses at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas in Austin.  

Sculley is widely considered an authority on city management. Her financial acumen is sought after by the government and businesses. She is qualified as a financial expert and is articulate on a large scale in financial matters. Sculley is an authority on ethics, having established and maintained high ethical standards throughout her career.  

She has advocated for, hired, and developed a gender and racially diverse workforce with a reputation for excellence. Sculley is an effective fundraiser for charities and civic events. Sculley is married to Mike Sculley, and they have two adult children. She is an avid runner, having completed numerous marathons, including two Boston Marathons.  

Sculley is the author of Greedy Bastards: One City’s Texas-Size Struggle to Avoid a Financial Crisis, a book on her city management experience in San Antonio that describes what prepared her to take on the numerous and immense challenges in that city.
