Jason Rebello was born in Mumbai and embarked on his first sea voyage as an apprentice cadet in 1993 when he was still in his teens. His love for the sea kept calling him back for more, and he spent two decades sailing around the globe in various ascending capacities until he rose to the rank of Captain. His love for the sea is matched equally by his passion for backpacking and traveling.
He started traveling in 1999; his first trip was an impulsive solo trip to an offbeat destination within his home state. He was a changed man after that trip, jumping fearlessly onto the backpacking bandwagon, and he has not looked back ever since! Jason is equally driven with a strong desire to delve into all topics related to spirituality, plain living, zen, self-improvement, and Transcendentalism.
Jason loves writing about his experiences, and he has an active travel blog - www.theevolvingbackpacker.com, the only travel website which does not talk about travel but uses it as an analogy to describe our own personal journeys through life. After all, his tagline borrows from the famous quote from R.W. Emerson - "It is about the journey and not the destination"
Jason migrated to Australia in 2014 on a Permanent Resident Visa along with his wife, and they are now Australian citizens. His writing journey started when he penned his first self-help book - Aussie Migrant: Money, in 2016. A few books in the same series followed, and he continues to help fellow migrants by sharing his thoughts (and books) on his website - www.migrantninja.com.au
Red Earth Diaries - is Jason's first travelogue in the travel genre, and as he likes to remind everyone, it will not be his last, knowing his penchant for travel. When he’s not writing, Jason spends his spare time running, climbing mountains, traveling, and enjoying days out with his wife and children.
