Phil Keoghan is an Emmy Award-winning television host, producer, author, and adventurer from New Zealand. He is best known as the host of the American reality competition series The Amazing Race, for which he has won eight Primetime Emmy Awards. He is also the creator and executive producer of the documentary series No Opportunity Wasted, which aired on the Discovery Channel.
Keoghan was born in 1972 in Lincoln, New Zealand. He attended the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in tourism. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles in 1995 and began working in television.
In 2001, he was cast as the host of The Amazing Race, which has since become one of the most popular and successful reality competition shows in television history. Keoghan has served as the show’s host and executive producer for all thirty-one seasons and has won eight Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.
Keoghan is also an avid adventurer. He has traveled to more than 100 countries and is the first person to have completed a bicycle ride around the world. He has also completed many long-distance swims and climbed some of the world’s tallest mountains, including Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Everest.
